- Does Paraspeech require an internet connection?
- Only the initial local model download requires an internet connection. After setup, local transcription and rewriting can run offline.
- Will Paraspeech slow down my Mac?
- Paraspeech is optimized for Apple Silicon and is extremely lightweight. It runs efficiently in the background without impacting performance. It uses <200MB of RAM and only uses CPU/GPU when transcribing.
- Which apps does Paraspeech work with?
- Every app. Paraspeech works system‑wide—editors, email, browsers, docs, and chat apps—no plugins or extra setup required.
- Is my voice data private?
- Yes. The current Mac release keeps speech recognition and local rewriting on your Mac. Paraspeech does not silently upload your audio or text.
- What hardware do I need?
- Paraspeech is built for Apple Silicon (M‑series), but it will work even on 8GB M1 Macs.
- How does the trial work?
- You get a number of free transcriptions to try it out. The app shows how many you have left. After that, you can choose a monthly or yearly plan, or grab a lifetime license.
- What languages does Paraspeech support?
- Fast local models cover English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and 25-language dictation. A broader 100+ language model is available when you need it.
- Can I use Paraspeech on multiple devices?
- Yes. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are valid for all your devices. A lifetime license covers two devices, for example one Mac and one iPhone.
- How do I use Paraspeech?
- Hold your shortcut key (Control by default), speak, and release. Your words appear instantly wherever your cursor is—no pasting required.
- What is AI Rewriting?
- AI Rewriting polishes transcripts with app-specific templates. In the current Mac release, rewriting runs locally on your Mac.
