- Does Paraspeech require an internet connection?
- Only the initial model download requires an internet connection. Paraspeech is fully offline after that. All transcription happens locally on your Mac for speed and privacy.
- Will Paraspeech slow down my Mac?
- Paraspeech is optimized for Apple Silicon and is extremely lightweight. It runs efficiently in the background without impacting performance. It uses <200MB of RAM and only uses CPU/GPU when transcribing.
- Which apps does Paraspeech work with?
- Every app. Paraspeech works system‑wide—editors, email, browsers, docs, and chat apps—no plugins or extra setup required.
- Is my voice data private?
- Yes. Audio and text never leave your device. Your recordings or transcriptions are never uploaded or stored on external servers.
- What hardware do I need?
- Paraspeech is built for Apple Silicon (M‑series), but it will work even on 8GB M1 Macs.
- How does the trial work?
- You get a number of free transcriptions to try it out. The app shows how many you have left. After that, you can choose a monthly or yearly plan, or grab a lifetime license.
- What languages does Paraspeech support?
- Paraspeech supports 100+ languages with the Multilingual model. There's also a dedicated English-only model for even better accuracy if you only speak English.
- Can I use Paraspeech on multiple Macs?
- Each lifetime license covers one Mac. If you need Paraspeech on additional Macs, you can purchase extra licenses.
- How do I use Paraspeech?
- Hold your shortcut key (Control by default), speak, and release. Your words appear instantly wherever your cursor is—no pasting required.
- What is AI Rewriting?
- AI Rewriting cleans up and polishes your transcriptions using on-device AI. Set up templates for different apps—use an email template in Gmail, a casual tone in Slack, or create custom templates. Paraspeech automatically applies the right template based on which app you're using.
