It's a voice-to-text app for Mac. Hold a key, speak, and release it. When processing completes, Paraspeech attempts to insert the text into the active editable field.

When the active speech-recognition backend is local, speech audio is transcribed on your Mac. When the direct Mac distribution and current product access make an on-device rewrite backend available, and that backend is active, rewrite text is processed on your Mac. Eligible cloud speech or rewrite paths, including allowed temporary speech fallback, transmit the content needed for that operation to the applicable cloud provider; operational flows such as account access, purchases, analytics, diagnostics, downloads, support, and updates may also use the network.

Requires macOS 14.0 or later. Apple Silicon Macs can use local modes; eligible Intel Macs use cloud-backed subscription models.

Turn on "Auto-Send" in Settings → General. Paraspeech will attempt to insert the transcription and press Enter. When local history is enabled, completed transcriptions are available in the menu bar.

Absolutely. Go to Settings → Hotkeys and pick whatever feels natural. Some people like Right Option, some use Hyper Key, others prefer a key combination.

Find a quieter spot, move closer to the microphone, set up word replacements for terms it keeps getting wrong, and try the English-only model if you only speak English. Also, check that "Remove Fillers" and "Convert Numbers" are enabled in Settings.

Bluetooth microphone routes can change latency and transcription quality. If results are poor, compare the MacBook's built-in microphone and keep the route that works better in your environment.

Fast local models cover English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and 25-language dictation. Multilingual Large provides broader 100+ language coverage where that model is available.

AI Rewriting cleans up and polishes transcriptions with Cloud Cleanup or, when the direct Mac distribution and current product access make them available, optional on-device templates. Cloud Cleanup requires internet access and permission to use cloud processing. The on-device model can briefly use more CPU, GPU, and memory while active.

Privacy depends on the active speech backend, the separate rewrite backend, temporary speech-fallback state, and operational feature. It lets Paraspeech detect your shortcut key while you're using other apps and insert text. In eligible direct builds, focused-text observation can also support Automatic Dictionary; that observation is unavailable in the Mac App Store build. If your admin requires network isolation, test the exact signed build and supported local mode after model setup; cloud-backed features and operational flows still require network access.

When enabled, this setting sends basic product-use and diagnostic events. Analytics is a network-capable operational flow, separate from local transcription. Review the current Privacy Policy for the exact data categories, purposes, and providers.

Privacy Mode is a local-history control for shared or sensitive-work Macs. It clears transcription history and stops saving new history; it does not turn network-capable features into offline features.
