- Does Paraspeech require an internet connection?
- Initial local model downloads and cloud-backed features need internet. After setup, local transcription and local rewriting can run offline.
- Will Paraspeech slow down my Mac?
- Transcription is designed to stay lightweight and only does real work while you record. AI Rewriting can briefly use more CPU, GPU, and memory while the local Qwen model runs.
- Which apps does Paraspeech work with?
- Every app. Paraspeech works system‑wide—editors, email, browsers, docs, and chat apps—no plugins or extra setup required.
- Is my voice data private?
- Yes. Paraspeech is local-first: local transcription and local rewriting stay on your Mac. Cloud-backed features are explicit, and Paraspeech does not silently upload your audio or text.
- What hardware do I need?
- On Mac, you need macOS 14 or later. Paraspeech supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, with the fastest local models on Apple Silicon. The iPhone and iPad beta requires iOS 17 or later.
- How does the trial work?
- You get a number of free transcriptions to try it out. The app shows how many you have left. After that, you can choose a monthly or yearly plan, or grab a lifetime license.
- What languages does Paraspeech support?
- Fast local models cover English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and 25-language dictation. A broader 100+ language model is available when you need it.
- Can I use Paraspeech on multiple devices?
- Yes. Monthly, yearly, and lifetime plans cover all your devices.
- How do I use Paraspeech?
- Hold your shortcut key (Control by default), speak, and release. Your words appear instantly wherever your cursor is—no pasting required.
- What is AI Rewriting?
- AI Rewriting polishes transcripts with app-specific templates. Local rewriting runs on your Mac and can use more resources briefly while the model is active.
