Reasons to try Paraspeech

You want hold-to-talk dictation for emails, notes and instructions across editable Mac fields, with a clipboard fallback where insertion is unsupported. Compare supported local Apple Silicon modes or cloud-backed Intel use, and try your own text before buying.

Reasons to try VoiceInk

You want an Apple Silicon Mac app with one-time licensing and advertised lifetime updates, or want to inspect its public source. Its model, prompt and provider controls may fit a workflow you prefer to configure yourself. Check the separate iOS beta terms.

Check hardware and processing

VoiceInk's current website requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14.4 or later, while its source README lists macOS 15.0 or later. These requirements differ. Check the requirements for the release you intend to install before downloading. Paraspeech requires macOS 14.0 or later; local Mac models require supported Apple Silicon hardware.

VoiceInk's docs describe local transcription with no enhancement or a compatible local enhancement option. Auto Learn must also be disabled or configured with a local review model for that workflow to stay on the Mac. A locally launched command can still contact a cloud service. Paraspeech likewise separates speech, rewriting and allowed fallback. Initial model setup and cloud features need internet.
